what if you're effin right?
i'd like to see your data in spite
of those anecdoes that convince those guys
i'd like to see your sample size
fit those points with a line
your internet looks so nice
when you update your lies
what kind of word
is incentivize?
what scandals
materialized
between your thighs?
did anything happen at all
inside your mind?
chorus
those suffragettes came marchin in
and they took all the votes
but what kind of men
did they enfranchise the most?
turns out it was me
turns out i was meant to be
waiting here
patiently

yeah you maximize my function
like no other ever even once did
yeah you maximize my function
and do it with such compunction
i got problems but few complaints
i got resources but they have constraints
how can i get the most utility?
give em to you so you can show me
the thing about my function is its limits are infinite
cause when i start something i just gotta finish
yeah you maximize my funk
ooh girl you got it real crunk
with costs irrelevant and sunk
you maximize my funk
my funk, my funk, my funk funk fa funk, my functional MRI!
what would find if you scanned my mind?
imagines of you with me inside
if you functionally imaged my brain
you would find that you make me insane
you'd find the reason that i'm perfectly sized
you would find that my function's optimized

take it out
and don't you put it away
the time is ripe
so do it today
will you breathe today?
do you feel alive?
take it out
put your machine in overdrive
no shoppin
no cleanin
no preparin your meals
instead somethin that makes you feel
start it up, see it through
make a change for us
for yourself and the world
be a plus
is there a reason you are here?
then don't hesitate
get out your comfort zone
and demonstrate

i run my
ideas by you
you advise me
on what to do
i think i know
what's good to do
but you think you know better
so i defer to you
i bought my kleenex
in 2005
i opened them today
there was an ad inside
it recommended that i buy
buy, buy, buy, buy
buy, buy, buy, buy
buy, buy, buy, buy
more kleenex next time
i write these songs
so you can relate to me
and i, to you
i'd like you to absorb them
and then we'll be in tune
yeah then we'll be in tune
then we'll be in tune
then we'll be in tune
i run my
ideas by you
i think you know
what's good to do
you think i know
some good stuff too
so we stick together
and get your brand of tissues
we get your brand of tissues

if you’re expelling gas
with so many farts
i’ll deodorize now baby
i’ll do my part
i will absorb
all of your love darts
i’ll accommodate you baby
i’ll do my part
if you’re puckered up
cause your soup's too tart
i’ll sugar it up now baby
i’ll do my part
if you need my thoughts
when we’re far apart
i’ll send em first class baby
i’ll do my part
i'll do my part

and i lay and wonder every day
what to think what to do what to say
and its a wonder that with all this clutter
i can think anything good at all
i go over to the other side
nearly every day
and i see that it's camouflage
and i slowly back away
what else could you do
confronted with an inferior version of you?
would you sink would you slide
or would you come back tonight?
i'm a user i'm a saver i'm a omnivore
i recycle everything that i use and more
i reduce i reuse i conserve everything
i do it when i shop when i eat when i sing
i compost my fruits use every part of the meat
and when i'm makin tunes i recycle my beats
just like this from the burbs to the balkans
so all my fans can dance to them all then
and when you shake dat ass til you're completely spent
cause these grooves make you move at 100 percent
know that you can dance all night guilt free
because they're environmentally friendly
(yes) each beat is at least 10 percent

every day i go back and forth back and forth
and i wonder really what it’s for what it’s for
i got school so i go down south
even though there’s one right up near my house
on my bike on the bus in my car
i could do somethin good instead i just travel far
its nice to see the scenery throughout the year
but it would really be nice if i could just stay here
i got friends and relatives they live far away
i see em at weddings, funerals and holidays
i miss em i text em and i write sometimes
if i could see em weekly it’d be quite sublime
i could surf the internet all damn day
i could rap take a nap or kiss my babe
i could play guitar or take a book off my shelf
but instead i use the time to go somewhere else
my parents got a house in a town full of kids
but they teach other ones that’s not where they live
every town’s got kids hundreds or thousands
they probably got teachers livin in their houses
they could get together teach and learn right there
perhaps they would like that if they cared
rich kids go to private school somewhere else
and the teachers wake up and rearrange themselves
they live in the burbs and drive to their jobs
traffic jams beepin horns like angry mobs
they live in the city and still commute
because they have a job that’s somewhere else too
we can form business and other organizations
we can sprawl out across this entire nation
we can keep in touch buy stuff get ahead
but maybe we can do that on the internet instead
we go back and forth back and forth back and forth
and i wonder really what’s it for what it’s for
what’s so good about all these other places?
that it’s worth spending hours changin our spaces
on my bike on the bus in my car
i could do somethin good instead i just travel far
i kinda like the ride so it’s not that bad
but if school came to my house i’d be really glad
wouldn’t it be sweet to get far places fast
and underneath all this dirt there’s lots of metal and gas
they put it all together and invented the car
but they could just stay and do stuff right where they are
and when we use these things we destroy our planet
it won’t last forever if we take it for granted
you could bike buy a hybrid or take public transit
but you could also just stay right where you’re standin
we would like that
we could do stuff
we’d save money work less
we’d get out enough
we could travel when we wanted to for leisure
no traffic more novelty it would please us
so on your next trip if you start thinkin why
stay home instead find somethin good nearby

i was there
you knew it but you acted like you didn't care
you knew i was there
i was there
when this side of me
sees that side of you
there's nothing it can do
to make you care
i was inside and outside
and sought everywhere
and i was keenly aware
that you weren't there
you weren't there
i thought things were so fine
when you bade me drink your dandelion wine
i thought things were sublime
i thought you could be mine
i was honestly surprised
when you so quickly friended me online
i thought things were sublime
i thought you might be mine, mine, mine
when you went back to doing art
then you could be with your own kind
i be that was sublime
but you could have been mine
when you went back to arizona
where those lakes are running dry
i bet that was sublime
but you could have been mine, mine, mine

i awoke to the high tide
it was rushing in
i felt it near i went outside
it was crashing in
i awoke to the nightlife
it was pounding them
there was nothing to stop it
they bounced again and again
they received entertainment
they don't like thinking at night
while they were out i was inside
i had the time of their lives
it was me, it was i!
i had the time of their lives

no guarantees/sunnyside

when the hurricane comes when the hurricane comes
there's no telling what it will bring
when the hurricane comes when the hurricane comes
you could lose everything
when the hurricane comes when the hurricane comes
as long as you're evacuating
when the hurricane comes when the hurricane comes
you'll be fine if you started with nothing
when the hurricane comes when the hurricane comes
you could lose everything
when the hurricane comes when the hurricane comes
you'll be fine if you started with nothing
nothing!
i don't want any guarantees
i don't even want consistency
i much prefer variety
randomness is alright with me
i don't want insurance!
i don't even want security
besides, i mean
who would want to come and take me?
you should know by now
that i'm tryin to skip town
i'm also tryin to leave you alone
but you alone are mine
what else could i do?
go out, find something new?
what could i find on only a bike?
don't worry, i know what i like
i know what i like
oh my it's sunny outside today
what'd you see when you looked outside today?
i bet you couldn't find your usual skies of gray
it's just so sunny outside today!
you should come out and face the facts
you should come back out make it a comeback
today we'll just lay in the grass
tonight we'll measure stellar parallax
you get mixed up with your ins and outsides
you get mixed up with your north and your south sides
be careful cause one is the shadyside
over there's rape, robbery and homicide
but that makes the other one the sunnyside
so get some fresh air go for a ride
if you said it wasn't nice that'd be a lie

i already know
what's in your underclothes, whoa
so i ought to know
what's in your arsenal
all of the books will show
how to cook vegetables
bowls of artichokes, okay
i'm all grown
what makes your feelings flow?
what makes your spirit glow?
you know
that grudge you hold
let go, let's go
where the people go
own their own homes
underneath the ozone, oh no
that bird has flown
that bird has flown

it doesn't really matter to me
if you try
see, i can get a new one
for 3.99
it doesn't really matter to me
if you try
i didn't even bother
to ask why
if it meant a lot to you then
i would try
it wasn't apparent
whether it was ours or mine
if you were ambivalent
then i'd step aside
but you cared
so i tried

do you ever wonder what it's like
to be a movie star?
you won't get very far
do you ever wonder what it's like
to be a CEO?
well you already know
the acquisition of knowledge
has nothing to do with going to college
but everything to do
with what could be meaningful to you
do you know what the difference is
between your life and hers and his?
it's nothing at all!
if i am wrong
then so are you
all along
we haven't known
what to do, what to do, what to do
in what sense are you alive?
up til now
i've realized
that the rests
of our lives
they are waiting, they are waiting
for us to arrive
in what sense
are you alive?
